  • Relationship Based Dog Training

I want to help you create a cohesive relationship with your dog, no more fighting or frustration. Instead replace that with a relationship where both parties are understood and fulfilled in their roles.

  • Science Based Dog Training

We use concepts like clicker training, the ABC's of applied behaviour analysis, classical and operant conditioning and more evidence based concepts to understand, teach and change dog behaviour.

  • LIMA Based Dog Training

LIMA training methods mean: least intrusive, minimally aversive training. As a trainer, I am proud to help you find creative solutions without the use of fear, force or intimidation.

More About Amanda's Story...

I have 3 dogs of my own at home. My oldest is Libby the German Shorthaired Pointer. Then there is Finnigan the Vizsla, who really started my journey into learning all about dog behaviour. And now, we have our foster fail, tri-pawd Australian Shepherd named Raven. With 3 high drive dogs living in the city of Hamilton I have the knowledge to help you build the behaviours you want to see with your dog no matter the age, breed or size.

Prior to starting The Wiser Canine, I completed multiple levels of Obedience training with my own dogs while offering part time dog walking services. But when my dog Finnigan was showing signs of fear and reactivity, I knew something was missing from my tool belt. I started digging into behaviour science and was hooked. I self studied for about a year while continuing to walk dogs part time. Then I started in the Karen Pryor Academy and completed the Professional Training Program. I was fortunate to learn from some great trainers while I assisted in puppy and manners group classes at one of the leading positive-based training schools in Toronto. Now, I continue to educate myself in the world of training. I am so excited to help you with your furry family member.

Proud to be a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner.

As a KPA CTP, I promise to teach and train using force-free principles so that you and your dog develop a bond built on trust and respect.
